What I Work On

Industrial connectivity, end to end

My work sits between machines and the systems that use their data: custom Node-RED modules, industrial protocol integration, and edge-to-cloud pipelines. The areas below are where I spend most of my time, and where the open-source packages on this site came from.

Where I Work
#

Custom Node-RED Modules

Node-RED nodes built for specific industrial use cases — proprietary hardware, uncommon protocols, and the long tail of maintenance that follows.

Node-RED JavaScript TypeScript

Protocol Integration

OPC-UA, Siemens S7, Allen-Bradley EtherNet/IP, CAN Bus, RS485, Modbus, MQTT and NATS — bridging industrial protocols into modern data infrastructure.

OPC-UA S7 CIP NATS

Edge-to-Cloud Architecture

Edge gateways on embedded Linux, containerised with Docker or K3s, and the pipeline design from sensor to dashboard.

Docker K3s Grafana

Data Engineering & Automation

Industrial data pipelines with Python and SQL, CI/CD for edge deployments, infrastructure as code, and the monitoring around it.

Python Terraform CI/CD

How I Approach It
#

01

Understand the plant

What is actually installed, what it speaks, and which constraints are non-negotiable.

02

Prove the connection

Get one real value out of the machine before designing anything around it.

03

Build in the open

Iterate in small steps, with the flows and the reasoning visible along the way.

04

Hand it over

Documentation and a system somebody else can maintain without me.
